  • Registration closes on October 1, 2019. No late applications will be accepted.
  • The competition will take place during the 2019 Colorado Flute Fair on Friday and Saturday October 18th and 19th, at Ent Center for the Arts Colorado Springs, from 7-9pm, and finals from 4:00-5:30pm. You will receive an email from the Competition Coordinator on or before October 10 with your performance time.
  • There is a non-refundable application fee of $75, to be paid at the time you register for the competition. Applications received prior to September 15th may pay a reduced Early Registration fee of $50.
  • You must have an original score with you for the performance. You may keep the original with you or perform with it – it is your choice. Copyright laws state that you must have an original copy of the work present when you perform.
  • Applicants must be age 30 or under by October 20, 2019. Proof of age may be required on the day of the competition.
  • Current CFA membership (for 2019-2020 membership year beginning on September 1, 2019) at the time of competition application is required.
  • CFA will provide a pianist for the Final Round at no additional charge, or entrants may bring a pianist at their own expense. Competitors will have the opportunity to rehearse with the pianists briefly on the day of the competition. If a competitor wishes to rehearse with a competition pianist before the competition, it is his or her responsibility to contact the pianist, schedule rehearsals, and pay for these rehearsals accordingly.
  • First-place winners of this competition will be ineligible to compete in future years.
  • All performances are open to the public.
  • All judges' decisions are final, and not all prizes need be awarded.
  • Demarre McGill will serve as a judge for both rounds with other prominent Colorado flutists.
  • Prizes - 1st: $1,000; 2nd: $600; 3rd: $300.
