Guidelines

  • Registration closes on October 1, 2018. No late applications will be accepted.
  • The competition will take place during the 2018 Colorado Flute Fair on Saturday, October 20, at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, from 9am to 12pm, and finals from 4:30-5:30pm. You will receive an email from the Competition Coordinator on or before October 10 with your performance time.
  • There is a non-refundable application fee of $75, to be paid at the time you register for the competition.
  • Each competitor must have three copies of their scores for the competition adjudicators (unaccompanied pieces included). This is an absolute requirement for this competition. Our adjudicating panel has a right to disqualify you should you not provide scores. Plan ahead, and make your copies before the day of the competition.
  • You must have an original score with you for the performance. You may keep the original with you or perform with it – it is your choice. Copyright laws state that you must have an original copy of the work present when you perform.
  • Applicants must be age 30 or under by October 20, 2018. Proof of age may be required on the day of the competition.
  • Current CFA membership (for 2018-19 membership year beginning on September 1, 2018) at the time of competition application is required.
  • CFA will provide a pianist for Round 2 at no additional charge, or entrants may bring a pianist at their own expense. Students will have the opportunity to rehearse with the pianists briefly on the day of the competition. If a student wishes to rehearse with a competition pianist before the competition, it is his or her responsibility to contact the pianist, schedule rehearsals, and pay for these rehearsals accordingly.
  • First-place winners of this competition will be ineligible to compete in future years.
  • All performances are open to the public.
  • All judges' decisions are final, and not all prizes need be awarded.
